Route Development Timeline:
1957: Highway 36's route is extended south on Cedar Avenue from Bloomington to Highway 13 in Eagan. Old Cedar Avenue is already paved in Dakota County. Highway 36 uses the old Cedar Avenue bridge over the Minnesota River.
~1978: Highway 36 is retired south of Minneapolis. State Highway 77 becomes the new designation for Cedar Avenue south of Highway 62.
