Comments:

  • First official highway map to show the US highway system, first marked on Minnesota highways in late 1926. Otherwise, the map is virtually identical in format to the map issued in 1926.

A close-up (left) of the 1927 official highway map, showing the addition the US highway system. Also note the hash-lines on US 65/State Highway 1 south of Owatonna and on State Highway 5 north of St. Peter showing the highways as "probably closed due to construction" (see below for the 1927 map key). The darker color of the map is probably a result of aging - the map scanned for the Minnesota Digital Library is much lighter.
